Above the fold
The part of a webpage that is visible without scrolling down or over. The exact amount of space may vary due to screen settings. Advertisements placed above the fold usually have a higher cost, but may also lead to better results in internet marketing services.
Ad ExtensionsInclude additional information in your text ad, such as your business's location, phone number, links to specific product or service pages, and call-outs highlighting extra features.
Ad NetworkA third-party service that connects advertisers with websites that want to host advertisements. Ad networks provide access to a range of different types of ads, such as banner ads, video ads and display ads, which can be targeted to specific audiences.
Advertising networkA website group in which a single advertiser manages all or a part of the advertisements for every site is known as an ad network. The Google Search Network is a well-known example, including sites like AOL, Amazon, Ask.com (formerly Ask Jeeves), and thousands of others. In Google Ads, there are two types of ad networks available: search and display (previously referred to as the content network).
AdWordsGoogle's online advertising program. AdWords is the former name of Google’s paid search marketing program, the largest such program in the world and in most countries with notable exceptions such as China (Baidu) and Russia (Yandex). Introduced in 2001, AdWords was the first pay per click provider offering the concept of Quality Score, factoring search relevancy (via click-through rate) in along with bid to determine ad position.
Affiliate MarketingA type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate's own marketing efforts. Affiliates are typically paid a commission for each lead or sale they generate.
AnalyticsThe process of measuring, managing and analysing data to gain insights into website or app performance. Analytics tools provide insights into user behaviour, website traffic, conversions, user engagement and more.
Banner AdA form of online advertising on a website or mobile app that takes the form of a rectangular graphic. Banner ads can be static, animated, or interactive and are typically used to promote products or services.
BloggingThe practice of writing content on a website or blog. Blogging can be used to attract new visitors to a website, build relationships with customers, and generate leads and sales.
Call-to-Action (CTA)A statement or button on a website, app, or email that encourages users to take a specific action. CTAs are often used to encourage visitors to sign up for a newsletter, download an e-book or make a purchase.
Content MarketingA digital marketing strategy that focuses on creating and distributing valuable and relevant content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience. Content marketing can include blog posts, e-books, videos, podcasts and more.
Display AdvertisingA form of online advertising that appears on webpages, apps and social media platforms. Display ads can be targeted to specific audiences based on demographic and behavioural data.
Drip CampaignAn automated series of emails that are sent out to contacts over time. Drip campaigns are typically used to nurture leads, build relationships and encourage customers to take a specific action.
